Charles and Geoff Macdonald and their sister, Jean Howart, share an inherited eye disorder, pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE). This is a rare connective tissue disorder affecting one in 100,000 people. This condition means there is little or no central vision. These paintings are a labour of love and a testament to the artists’ determination to create things of beauty despite their disability. They are part of a collection owned by the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.
