The design is based on the spiralling lamella dome structure. The dome is cut in half and placed in parallel, like praying hands coming together. It was commissioned to celebrate the 600th Anniversary of Brunelleschi's dome of Florence Cathedral. The artwork includes an 'Extinction Bell', that chimes up to 150–200 times a day to signal the number of species lost every 24 hours in the world. The structure is a space to contemplate nature. An information board is located beside the structure.
