Three clay ‘bodies’, somewhat like chess pieces, in the form of a traditional tear drop motif sitting on a lotus blossom. Formed from inside the artist built up a clay wall around his feet roughly 5cm away from his body and up over his head. The hollow body came to represent a place, the site of our consciousness and a focus for contemplation, a sign of renewal and as an incredible resource of sculptural forms. The artist states, 'This seems a fitting subject for the grounds of Bellahouston Park, housing one of the city’s horticultural centres and walled garden'. Each has surface decorative floral pattern developed from trips to India – the tear drop pattern is ubiquitous in Paisley textiles and originates in the Middle East from a budding form of the date palm – a focus for contemplation and sign of renewal.
