A soldier wearing battle dress, cap and pack, stands at ease with his rifle. His left foot is slightly forward and the back of his right leg is braced against a tree stump. The statue stands on a square plinth with a relief of an aeroplane in flight on the left-hand side, and a three-funnelled ship at sea on the right-hand side. The whole is mounted on a single-stepped base located within a small railed enclosure.
