The installation consists of 12 disused red telephone boxes arranged in a snaking line and leaning at ever greater angles against each other, as if like dominoes falling.

plaque carries the Unicorn Restorations and Kingston Borough logos along with the inscription: OUT OF ORDER / By / David Mach / "OUT OF ORDER" was commissioned by the / Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thamesand unveiled on / 19th December 1989. It was renovated on instruction of the / Kingston Town Neighbourhood Committee in 2001. / This work was carried out by Unicorn Kiosk Restorations. / (logos) / PLEASE TREAT WITH RESPECT
