This painting was acquired after the 2005 Guildford International Music Festival, at which Roger Dellar first made his appearance as Artist-in-Residence. He has continued to paint many celebrated artists at the biennial Festivals. Sitting unobtrusively, he paints artists in a variety of venues, often completing more than one painting per concert. 'One Piano, Four hands' was the title of the performance by Joseph Tong and Waka Hasegawa. Roger Dellar is an award-wining artist and member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, the Pastel Society and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. Since 1996 he has been an active member of the Wapping Group. The University has since acquired several works by Roger Dellar, amongst them pastels and watercolours.
