The monument commemorates Lady Elizabeth Somerset, daughter of the fourth Duke of Beaufort. She died after a fall from her horse near this spot on 7th May 1760. There is a moulded pedestal with the base of the shaft (the top is missing). Formerly with a Latin inscription to the Duke of Beaufort's niece, whose death it commemorates. The plinth was rebuilt in 2004.
