A sundial set high on the wall of a building, which rather than telling the hour, tells the day and month. The designer of the work Frank King states that this is believed to be 'the only sundial in the world which can correctly pick out 29th February in leap years.'

King is a Fellow in Computer Science at Churchill College, Cambridge, and he is also the University Bellringer and Keeper of the University Clock. In 1980, following a chance conversation with David Kindersley, he delineated two sundials. He has subsequently been involved in the design of many other dials in Britain and overseas, and he continues to work with Lida Lopes Cardozo Kindersley.
