View of Venice, new lamps for old; foreground, a traghetto with boardwalks, mooring posts and two lamps mounted on posts one of which is old with a pyramid shaped roof and one which is new (electric?) in ornate metal and glass; middleground, the sea / water with gondolas and sailing boats; background, the monastery of San Giorgio Maggiore with a dome, a classical facade and a campanile. Drawn in a tentative line with stopping out for selected areas. Much of the foreground has been left in outline. Text on image, on the new lamp, \'290\'
