Born in Glasgow, David Forrester Wilson attended the Glasgow School of Art (GSA) from 1892 and on graduating in 1902, joined the staff of the drawing and painting department where he taught classes in ornament and preparatory antique. Later works show him specialising in large decorative panels and portraiture.

This painting was lost in the fire in The Mackintosh Building at The Glasgow School of Art on 23rd May 2014.
