This portrait is one of a pair with 'Dan Davies', also painted by Harris and owned by the Collection. The frame is marked 'Presented to Mrs Dan Davies in Recognition of Her Husband's Services to the Cause of Music, February 1896'. This portrait hung in the Davies's family home in the Walk, It was featured in the BBC programme 'Coming Home: Rolf Harris'. The Harris family owned a portrait studio in Merthyr Tydfil during the late nineteenth century.
