Ada Lewis-Hill (1844–1906) is depicted in this grand full-length portrait wearing a white silk or satin evening dress with a pink overlay garment which partly covers the bodice, with a decorative pearl brooch at the lace neckline of her dress and a heavy dark fur coat. Her jewellery comprises a heavy gold chain with a round charm, which she wears on her right hand, along with a fawn glove. Her left hand is ungloved and shows off her rings, worn on her wedding finger.
