Ian McGregor was born in Glasgow in 1921 and graduated in Medicine from Glasgow University in 1944. Specialising in plastic surgery, he became a Consultant in 1957 and rose through the ranks to become Director of the Plastic Surgery Unit at Canniesburn, until he retired in 1986. He was President of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow from 1984–1986. He died in 1998.
