A bronze bust of Sir Walter Scott on a light grey granite plinth with an inset bronze panel depicting a bard and a relief carving. There is also a surrounding semi-circular squared whinstone wall with light grey granite coping and relief-carved lettering 'The last of all the bards was he, who sung of border chivalry'. The former stone bench to the base of the wall, is now adapted to hold flowers. The bust, commissioned for the centenary of Scott's death commemorates his close involvement with Galashiels. The inscription is adapted from two lines in the introduction to 'The Lay of the Last Minstrel'.
