The Glacier des Bossons is one of the most spectacular glaciers in the Alps, descending steeply from the northern flanks of Mont Blanc and Mont Blanc du Tacul into the Chamonix Valley.

When Ruskin saw it, the glacier descended almost to the village of Les Bossons on the floor of the valley. The view depicted here shows only a small part of the glacier as it plunges past the Montagne de la Côte to the valley below.
