This was one of a number of paintings that Boden created to record the changes that have taken place in Sunderland. They show the last remnants of the region's heavy industries including ship building and coal mining. Boden's work also reveals his fascination with the new developments that have taken place in Sunderland since the 1990s such as Stadium of Light and the Museum and Winter Gardens.
