'The untitled mono-print of a Minotaur and a woman is part of a greater series that used the theme of the Minotaur to give a mythical slant to my narrative of male and female energies exposed to each other. Using myth and reverie I felt invited over to an evocative other-worldly language and using the Minotaur specifically gave me lots to explore with his physically brutish, lustful and domineering character. Being "of legend" the inner workings of the Minotaur were fully explored in my drawings and paintings – sometimes this was violent, sometimes sensual and, as in this particular image, sometimes tragic' (Artist’s statement, December 2010).
