The ‘aesthetics of aspiration’ as Kenny calls it runs as a constant thread throughout this installation both in her choice of materials commonly used in the building trade or for DIY and home decor (such as plaster, glass, neon, Dado rails and fabric), but also in her frames of reference from the once-ubiquitous sight of washing lines in the ginnels and backyards of rainy industrial northern towns.
