Although originally thought to depict a priest of the Maya civilisation, later curatorial research suggests that this sculpture is in the Tiahuanaco style. A curatorial note reads: ‘Not Maya features, north coast, Tiahuanaco style, Peru’. The figure is seated cross-legged and hunch-backed and is wearing a hat, earrings and necklace.
