The memorial is set on a raised platform and is of rectangular section. The plinth has a splayed step rising to a short rectangular obelisk with rolled edges. The base has wreaths to the north and south, commemorative bronze plaque to the west and a bronze casting attached on pedestals to the east. The casting is in the form of a bundle of military emblems and artefacts wrapped in a flag; articles include bandoliers of ammunition, an Mk. II Browning machine gun, a Vickers gas-operated light machine gun, spears, mace and other regalia. On top of the bundle are a soldier's personal effects: uniform, helmet, gas mask, water bottle, camouflage webbing, satchel full of Mills bombs. To the north-west is a later stone-faced wall with attached bronze plaques listing names of the fallen.
