This cast brass head is hollow with a circular opening at the top which was used to display a carved elephant ivory tusk. The head is decorated with an elaborate winged head-dress and wears coral beads. Its flanged base is decorated with royal symbols including leopards, mudfish, and the heads of sacrificial animals. The sculpture was obtained at the capture of Benin City in February 1897.
