MAUDSLEY MEMORIAL GARDEN / THE WATER FEATURE IN THIS GARDEN WAS PROVIDED BY PUBLIC SUBSCRIPTION IN MEMORY OF THE LATE ALDERMAN JOHN BARKER MAUDSLEY C.B.E. / A MEMBER OF THE MAIDENHEAD BOROUGH COUNCIL FROM 1936 UNTIL HIS DEATH IN 1969. IN RECOGNITION OF HIS DEVOTED AND OUTSTANDING SERVICES TO THE TOWN. JOHN WAS A NATIVE OF YORKSHIRE AND THE NATURAL BOULDER USED IN THE MEMORIAL WAS GIVEN BY A LANDOWNER IN YORKSHIRE - JULY 1973
