A Byzantine painting / fresco on a pillar in a crypt / cave (Crypt of the Original Sin?), Matera, Italy. The pillar, in the centre, has the remains of a painting depicting a Saint (Sant'Eustachio?) holding a crook and wearing a mitre and a gown the latter decorated with crosses. Above the Saint is a faint drawing of a thin, drawn face. In the background is a dark cave interior with a roof and an arch. Bleached? highlights. Black and white image with a range of tones
