An unframed oil on board painting by Enid Marx of a seated carved wooden marionette in Cossack-style costume, with a beard. He wears a pink blouson, short brown trousers and yellow leggings. His left arm is raised. Enid Marx painted these two oil paintings of 19th century marionettes in the 1940s. The marionettes, which were in a private collection are here shown in traditional costumes and show the unusual mix of craft, drama and the grotesque which Marx found captivating.
