The sculpture was made for the St Paul's side of Temple Bar, reerected in 2004 at the entrance to Paternoster Square, London. Between 1877 and 1878, Temple Bar was removed from Fleet Street as a traffic obstruction and was purchased by Sir Henry Meux, who, with the encouragement of his wife, erected it on his estate, Theobalds Park in Cheshunt.
