Maquette for the full-size bronze statute in the east end of Hawick High Street which was unveiled on 4th June 1914. It depicts a youth wearing a breast plate and holding a flag in his right hand. He is seated on a horse which is standing with bowed head and right hoof raised. The youth represents the callant (young lad) who brought the flag captured from an English raiding party at Hornshole back to Hawick in 1514. The piece was made in Dean Studios, Belford Road.
