In 1979 the London Borough of Camden ran a sculpture competition to provide a sculpture for the corner of Lincoln's Inn Fields. Shortlisted sculptors were invited to submit maquettes of their design. Flanagan won the competition with this piece and his finished sculpture 'Camdonian' was unveiled in October 1980. The work's silhouette is thought to resemble a giant oak leaf or a pair of antlers.
