The maned wolf is not a true wolf, and lives in grassland of South America where its long legs allow it to see over the tall grass. It is classified as being at lower risk by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). There is a single species 'Chrysocyon brachyurus' (mamed wolf).
