A 'Magnolia' vase with dark blue ground and pink magnolia petals tipped lilac, olive green leaves. The most abundant Moorcroft design of all time, it was the art pottery's 'bread and butter' for decades. Large bold flowers were very much of the period, akin to Mary Quant in the fashion world. Drawn in 1975 from magnolias seen by Walter in the grounds of Hodnet Hall, Shropshire and first exhibited in February 1976. Pink flowers on blue were first used, but later ivory, yellow and olive grounds were added.
