View of mid-nineteenth century Manchester along London Road, displaying a busy midday market street, receding into the distance. Street venders line the pavements selling fruit, pedestrians walk along the pavement either buying goods or conversing with others, hounds and horses pull marketable goods through the streets on carts, men walk with wheelbarrows along the road. Tall chimneys emit smoke into the bright sky, the road is lined either side with houses.
