‘Urmston’s (or Urmson’s) House’, on the left, was built as a farmhouse in 1729. It was demolished in 1928 and the road set back where today there is a taxi rank and a couple of parking spaces. In the centre is ‘Dean’s Terrace’ dating from 1782; most of the terrace has been demolished leaving only the Royal Oak public house. In the distance can be seen ‘Egerton Cottage’: this ancient building was composed of three dwellings under a common thatched roof. The cottage was demolished in 1913 and Hebron Hall stands on the site. Manor Road runs off to the right and Rake Lane away in the centre.
