This painting bears the following inscription on a plaque: 'This portrait of Llew Llwyfo, Welsh Journalist, Novelist and crowned bard, was presented to him by a few friends through the initiation of John Jones, Esquire, Mayor of this Borough and afterwards conveyed by the Presentee to the Caernarvon Free Library, May 1888'.
