Leo Linse was the first Abbot of Fort Augustus Abbey (St Benedict's Abbey), which was erected on the site of the former fort, originally built 1729–1742. 'Under the influence of Prior Linse the community at Fort Augustus strove to remodel itself more closely on what it saw as the authentic medieval tradition and rather less on establishing an ongoing relationship with the world around it – such as the contemporary English Benedictine foundations did through the running of schools or parish work.'
