Painting depicting a landscape at sunset. A large hill extends across the picture with cottages and trees in autumnal colours on top of the hill. The full sunset is obscured by the hill but the glow of orange and yellow is highly visible in the left part of the picture towards the horizon line. The hill extends into a valley at its base where a figure is depicted walking across the land, strongly resembling a young boy. Various piles of rock and debris are scattered amongst the landscape. The paintwork is dry and scratchy adding to the fairly barren quality of the land. The colours used across the landscape are browns and dark greens.
