A view from the Bishopsteignton side of the shore at Teignmouth in Devon. A frigate is anchored in the bay together with a cutter in the foreground to the right. In the left foreground a ferry laden with passengers has landed on the shore and has begun to disembark. A woman stands poised on the boat waiting to be guided down the small gangplank. A gentleman on his own is being ferried in a small rowing boat. A fisherman walks along the shore in the foreground carrying his nets under his arm. In the middle distance to the left a group are hauling in their heavily laden fishing nets and behind them is the iron and wood bridge spanning the river, which was opened the previous year in June 1827. A carriage and several pedestrians are crossing the bridge.
