Bronze statue of a Lancashire Fusilier surmounting a pedestal. Bronze panels on three sides of the pedestal list those who died in the Boer War. Above the panels are a carving of oak leaves representing strength, and a laurel wreath representing victory. The memorial was originally sited in Market Place but was moved to its present location in 1920.

THIS MONUMENT IS ERECTED BY THEIR COMRADES OF ALL RANKS & BY FRIENDS OF THE REGIMENT; on the other three sides of the pedestal are the names of the officers and men who died.
