The artist and architect Georg Muche was a leading figure in the influential Bauhaus School of Art and Design in Germany. When invited by Walter Gropius in 1919 he was the youngest master of form, and from 1921 to 1927 he was Head of Weaving. He taught some preliminary courses and in 1923 led the Committee for the first Bauhaus exhibition, designing the celebrated Haus Am Horn with Marcel Breuer, and in 1926 the Steel House in Dessau with Richard Paulick.
