A painting after a Spartan kylix (drinking cup), c.580 BC–550 BC. The accompanying lettering reads: 'The silphium trade was the chief source of revenue to the city of Cyrene for several centuries. Bales of silphium are shown being weighed and packed in the hold of a ship in the presence of King Arcesilaus.'
