Although uncertain, this portrait is likely to be of Katey Dickens, possibly produced by Charles Allston Collins, her first husband, whom she married in 1860. He was associated with the Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood but was not admitted as an official member. For many years the work was misattributed to John Everett Millais, and was said to depict Mamie Dickens.
