Juliana Margaretta Waltersdorff (1769–1819) married Cornelius Hendrickson Kortright (1763/4–1818). After several years in the West Indies the Kortrights moved to England and bought Hylands, their home from 1797 to 1814. The Kortrights engaged the landscape architect Humphry Repton to advise improvements to the Hylands estate, including landscaping the park. This picture shows Mrs Kortright in a married woman's cap, but still in fashionable classical dress.
