A large ornate drinking fountain comprising a polished granite base with projecting sides and semi-circular basins fixed on each side of the base. Above is a decorative canopy carried on four red granite columns and granite base. The canopy ended in a finial (now missing). A coats of arms of the borough and the Co-operative Society, with the dates 1856 and 1906, embellish the canopy. Four stone lions positioned on the projecting walls at the base of the fountain have been removed. An inset bronze panel on the front of the fountain has also been removed but the one at the rear has survived. The four surviving basins are dry and the whole structure rises from two octagonal steps.
