This painting shows Jonathan and Mary Anne Walker when Jonathan was about seven years old, and Mary Anne was about five. They were the children of Jonathan and Mary Walker, who lived at Ferham House. Mary was the sister of Joshua Walker who built Clifton House. Jonathan and Mary Anne would have spent quite a lot of time with their Aunt and Uncle at Clifton House whilst they were growing up, along with the children of their mother’s other brothers and sisters. Jonathan later married Ann Barr who was the eldest daughter of Martin Barr who came from Worcester, and may have worked at the Worcester pottery. Jonathan and Ann didn’t have any children, and he died at the age of 61 at Hawkhills near Easingwold, just north of York. Hawkhills is now an Emergency Planning College.
