An unfinished portrait in oils of Canon John Quine, MA, Vicar of Lonan by his friend, the Manx artist, Archibald Knox. The portrait is thought to have been painted when Canon Quine was Headmaster of the Douglas Grammar School, where Knox had been a pupil and later worked as an Art Master. Quine and Knox shared an interest in Manx history and archaeology and were early members of the Isle of Man Natural History and Antiquarian Society.
