John Clare, widely regarded as one of the greatest English poets, lived in the village from 1793 until 1832. The life-size sculpture of the poet, in an oversized trench coat, is crammed full of a miscellany of objects to discover from violins to flora and fauna. Numbers etched into the sculpture relate to part of an activity designed to discover the objects hidden within it.
