John Bellows ran a successful printing business in Gloucester. He was a keen amateur archaeologist and presented Gloucester City Museum with the famous Birdlip Mirror. This portrait is a copy by Percy Bigland of his own painting that was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1902.
