The artist commented that this picture 'came into being as a result of my search for an image which would express the interdependent nature of the relationship between man and the growing mass of information with which his mind deals, and on which it depends'. Five figures, representative of the five senses, are deliberately fused into the abstract structures of this dynamic composition. Evans stated that the diagonal orientation of these structures was the best way of communicating that the relationship between man and information was a 'rapidly developing one, suggestive of change, movement, continual adjustment and progress'.
