A crowd scene, set on a green, with buildings to the left-hand side. A dead or leafless tree is prominent to the left while there are two trees in left to the middle distance, along with a church spire. There are people eating at tables in the left hand quarter of the picture, pots are carried to the table, one woman washes pots. More central is a supported white sheet, something like a windbreak, reading 'AUNT SALLY'. The painting is full of incident and closely observed detail.
