The top half of the painting shows the recumbent god Vishnu surrounded by manifestations of his consort Lakshmi, with the snake deity Shesha at his head and a lotus arising from his navel on which the god Brahma sits. Vishnu's left hand hovers over a lingam, which is an abstract form of the god Shiva. The lower half shows Vishnu in the centre, holding his typical attributes (discus at upper left, conch shell at upper right) with manifestations of his consort to either side of him.
