Henry Howard Molyneux (1831–1890), 4th Earl of Carnarvon, was Pro Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of England, the governing body of Freemasonry in England and Wales, from 1874 to 1890. The Pro Grand Master is the representative of the Grand Master when he is unable to attend meetings. In this portrait he is wearing the regalia of a pro grand master along with the collar and breast star of a Knight of the Order of St Patrick (KP), one of the main chivalric orders in the United Kingdom.
