In many exacting details, the head of this plaster bust is identical to the head of Henry Bence Jones in the collection of The Royal Institution, the latter having been presented by Royal Institution members in late March of 1873. However, Woolner's head is connected to shoulders, a cloak and a socle that match George Halse's signed (1856) bust of Caesar Henry Hawkins in the same hospital collection.
